Piedras. Gowanus V
Blanca Guerrero

Year: 2018
Medium: Handmade washi and acrylic adhered onto wood paper
Dimensions: 35,56 x 27,94 cm · 14 x 11 in

This work belongs to ‘Piedras’, the artist’s most recent series on paper. In it, Guerrero captures ambiguous tensions between represented volume and negative space, weight and lightness, through geometry and abstraction. Gowanus refers to the canal of the same name in Brooklyn, New York, which she makes reference to by means of the delicate washes and swabs of color in muted earths and olives which, combined with line drawing, generate a link between emotional participation and the urban physical landscape.
